DESCRIPTION:Our Wilderness First Aid Courses are designed for people who spend time in the wilderness and encounter the associated risks. While the types of illnesses and injuries addressed are similar to Basic First Aid\, more advanced and improvised techniques are taught allowing participants to manage environmental hazards and the expected delay in reaching hospital care.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCourse Content\n\nThis First Aid course is designed to teach participants to prevent\, recognize\, and treat the following illnesses and injuries:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSoft tissue injuries such as cuts\, abrasions\, and impaled objects\n\nEye and Facial injuries\n\nShock\n\nHead trauma\n\nSprains\n\nFractures\n\nBurns\n\nSevere allergic reactions\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLightning\n\nPoisoning\n\nBites and stings\n\nHeat exhaustion\n\nHypothermia\, Heat exhaustion and Heat stroke\n\nFrostbite\n\nInfections/Long-term wound care\n\nDressing for survival\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis course uses real-life scenarios to dramatize illnesses and injuries. It also allows the participants to repeatedly practice in a simulated stressful situation and therefore integrate the skills learned during the classroom format.
