SUMMARY:Workshop: Be Inspired to Run
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever thought\, "Someday I would like to run a 5K"? Here is your chance to turn your thought into reality. Local runners Kate Koonz and Bette Richard will explain how to get started\, how to train\, what shoes to wear\, & how to set goals. Kate started running so she could keep up with her husband when they were hiking. Eight years later\, she is still running\, and now he is trying to keep up with her! She recently completed her first marathon in Philadelphia\, and continues to run longer and longer distances\, both on roads and trails. She has competed in races in the Northeast at all distances. Bette Richard began running when she turned 30 years old and wanted to quit smoking. She could barely get to the end of her road\, 3/10ths of a mile away\, without gasping for breath. Thirty six years later she is still walking-jogging-running-hiking. She still competes in local road races. She remains proud of the fact she completed 12 Boston Marathons and inspired both her daughters and her nephew to become avid runners. This workshop is for all ages and abilities\, so come and be inspired.
