Fiber & Fabric in Colonial New England

Free, but please call to reserve your seat 413-397-3680. Frank & Judy Sullivan, of Keene, NH, will talk about fiber production in Colonial New England, from the mid-18th century onward. Topics will include the steps involved in making raw wool into yarn & then cloth; flax & hemp production; & how the resulting cloth was made into clothing. Examples of typical fabrics will be on display, as well as an assortment of clothing made using 18th century techniques. (Judy is a spinner, seamstress, & professional kilt maker; Frank is a weaver of tartans & 1700's reproduction fabric since retiring; and they often use their skills and research for re-enactments.)
